Trier on the Mosel River

Just trained it from Dresden to Trier on the Moselle River. The buildings and bridges here are Roman! Yes, Roman. How old is that, bitte? Do we have adobe buildings that old in California? Not by a long shot!

Watched the opening Bundeslieg soccer games in the hotel. The Germans are passionate about their fussball. Bayern Münich won handily, with Barcelona's old coach.

Took a cruise today on the Moselle river. Lovely convents, castles, and vineyards along the sides of the river, all very old. The cruise was lovely and the weather perfection itself. I saw swan and ibises on the river. It would be lovely to come back and cycle up the river someday, stopping at villages along the way. By train tomorrow I plan to get off in some smaller villages along the river. But I've kept all planning loose, keeping all options open, so the best laid plans, well, the last minute planner better be prepared for anything and keep flexible. For example, I tried to extend my stay in Trier, but all hotels are booked, so I just booked a hotel in Koblenz and will leave a day early. Such is the life of the indecisive! But I like it.
