Cochem on the Moselle River

Didn't plan on it, but when I got off the train in Cochem, I was doomed to spend the day. I rode a chairlift to the top of a ridge with great views, toured a castle originally built in 1050 but mostly rebuilt in the late 19th century, with turrets and weapon rooms and views of the river from high up. In 30 minutes I board a boat which will take me to Koblenz in six hours instead of one hour by train. The boondoggle still lives!
Chairlift gives a nice view

  1. OMG, James. I was thinking about your travels. I didn't realize I still had a Berlin guidebook on the shelf; I even pulled out my scrapbook to relive it! So glad you journey on. I'm haunted by the looming September date!
