PA FELLOWSHIP AWARDED! GOING BACK TO NEPAL!

Will my village be recognizable?
On March 23 I was informed that I received The Buckley School Parent's Association Fellowship for summer learning. I had submitted my three-page application three weeks earlier proposing to return to the village school in Nepal where I had taught as a Peace Corps Volunteer more than three decades earlier.
People had always asked me, "Have you ever been back?" Time has a way of insulating one from such intense and meaningful experiences so that they almost seem like experiences of another person in a different lifetime too distant to access. I usually shrugged in reply, "No, maybe someday."
Now that I have the chance, what will it mean for me? Will I reconnect with the village, my original experiences, teachers, students? Or will I find everything so changed that I feel no connection, like my memories of the place and its current state have no correlation?
Whatever my experience, I hope to stay open minded to this journey and bring a little bit of the idealism and adventure that inspired me to join the Peace Corps the first time.
